Personal History Steven A. Silver was born in Los Angeles in 1956. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley. He graduated from Grant High School in 1974 then attended Los Angeles Valley College and California State University, Northridge. He graduated from CSUN in 1979 with a B.A. degree in Sociology, with a Police Science minor. Mr. Silver graduated from Southwestern University School of Law in 1989. He was admitted to the California Bar that same year. Mr. Silver met his wife, Cynthia, in Los Angeles and they were married in 1989. In 1992, their first son, Aaron, was born. In 1995, the Silvers bought a home in Cindy's home town of Porterville, California. For the following four years, Mr. Silver commuted weekly between Porterville and Los Angeles. Finally, in February, 1999, Mr. Silver moved his practice to Porterville. In February, 2001, their second son, Luke, was born. In March, 2001, Mr. Silver was sworn in as a judge advocate in the reserve component of the U.S. Army's Judge Advocate General's Corps. His current rank is first lieutenant. Mr. Silver is an avid sailor and skier. He especially enjoys bird hunting and shooting sports. Mr. Silver is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California, as well as the Central and Eastern District Federal Courts in California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. |
